Giving one a gift counts for the whole team. The harvest sprite numbers increase as you befriend them. The weather is set like 5 days in advance, so don’t bother reloading for different weather.
The portraitless NPCs also give out sunstones iirc, so talk to them and befriend them and give them gifts as well. It takes a while since you can’t give them gifts. If your hunger meter gets too low, you’ll start waking up later in the day. Wild animal island takes a while to befriend the animals, but it’s probably a good secondary option. Mushroom island is the only one that gives you stuff to sell right away. and also raise those islands and either plant stuff on them or build stuff on them depending on the island. You’ll need to build bridges to the other islands it goes to. Also don’t raise the bridge island or whatever it’s called, even though it takes the fewest Sunstones. Mining is pretty hard and resource intensive. I forget if it was IoH or Sunshine that had an issue where if you dragged and dropped items into the shipping bin, it would only count as a single item?
